tamping and profiling
The tamping and profiling are performed mainly when renovation/rehabilitation have been completed.
Tamping
The TAMPING is done with heavy vidro-compression machines (Tamping) able to allign, to level and to settle the ballast simultaneously.
Tamping machines works through the tamping hammers inserted at specific intervals within the ballast. Its vibration tamp the gravel and lift the rail at the height needed.
This procedure removes the spaces remaining in the ballast making the track linear and safe for the trains movement. Often these machines operate with other service vehicles, almost completely automated, and are also able to correct several hundred meters per hour.

Ballast Regulation
Ballast regulator makes the shape of the platform required. It has equipped with front and side plowshares and able to model the rail ballast.
These two activities can also be carried out individually on a leveling construction site.
